Biography

Francesco was born in Washington D.C. (USA) in March 16th 1984 in a hospital on the Potomac river from Claudio Marcocci and Bianca Natale.
The Family moved back in Italy when Francesco was 9 months old and established in Pisa, Tuscany.
Francesco was introduced to music at the age of 10 studying piano in the middle school. After then he started sharing his interested between the music, biology and human rights.
He picked up the electric bass thanks to the advice of Martino Frongia – a friend - at 14 yeas old playing in a “garage/friends” band. At 16, after a Keith Jarret Trio concert, he decided that was time to move to the Double Bass. That night the beautiful interplaying of Gary Peckock moved something in his chest opening his mind to improvise music.
Francesco started studying Jazz and composition at the same time he picked up the upright bass; he needed to find out about music as much as he could in order to be able to expresses himself.
It was after graduating in high school that focusing for a year –already started a year before – just doing nothing, but studying music, Francesco was honored with a scholarship from the Berklee Collge of Music at the Umbria Jazz Clinics 2004. That was a great event that changed Francesco’s life bringing him first to opening the famous Umbria Jazz Festival Winter 2004/2005 and then to Boston to study at the music College.
“Right after a concert I step in to the car, I drive for 2 hours, I get home, pack the double bass, put the luggage in the car and straight to the airport to fly to USA”.
In Boston Francesco found what he was looking for: sharing music with people from all over the world and studying with amazing teachers. He studied bass with J. Lockwood great musician that worked for him as a mentor inspiring and opening Francesco’s mind constantly. It was in this environment that Francesco developed his own language and was inspired to create some projects with the people surrounding him.
